Introduction
SEARCH, a value based Action Learning Nepali non-governmental
organization (NGDO) is an autonomous, non-profit, secular
and non-political development organization. It is registered
with the Chief District Officer (CDO) and the Social Welfare
Council (SWC) of HMG/N in Kathmandu. Its Action Research and
Community Development Sites are located in remote hill districts.
SN pursues and advocates empowerment
and human rights based approach(HRBA) to development while
working for self-reliant development. A realistic mix of service
delivery towards critical minimum basic needs is also pursued
through self-help development. It’s mission and Goal
complements national development. It attempts to usher just,
equitable, inclusive and accountable systems of governance
in government and non-government sector. It’s specific
Mission and Goal are given below.
Vision
A Sustainable Support and Resource
NGDOn in Nepal. It has capable leadership; competent management;
skilled, efficient and effective staff members; quality finance
and resource endowment; developmed systems; qulaity projects
and effective external public relations. SN's Programs are
characterized by quality service delivery to the poorest of
the poor. Its advocacy is for a Right Based Approach to human
development in order to fulfill a trangular need of our society
related to development; environment and population. This is
undertaken together with the local community, local gjovernment,
and non-government plus donor partners as common stakeholders.
Mission
Our mission is to contribute
towards strengthening a process, which enhances sustainable
livelihood in our constituency based on self-help development.
This is enhanced through strengthening good governance of
civic society organizations especially the NGOs, CBOs, and
SHGs. Local government will also be strengthened. In pursuing
our mission, we will be mindful of human right issues and
right-based approach to development.
Goal
The goal of SN's is to reduce poverty in the project
areas, thereby, contributing tangibly towards the government
policy and goal of poverty reduction in Nepal. SN has its
own operational definition regarding poverty and poverty reducton
as articulated above.
